What is an annual recruitment campaign?
Each year, accredited training hospitals in Australia recruit junior doctors for the following year through a statewide recruitment campaign. Each state/territory has their own campaign. Terminology and position titles may differ (refer to www.drlauraconsulting.com/blog/2021/4/30/understanding-doctor-titles).
When does the recruitment campaign take place?
The dates differ in each state/territory, starting from as early as May.
When do the positions commence?
February of the following year. In 2022, the start date is 7 February.
Are IMGs with limited/provisional registration eligible to apply through the campaign?
Not in all states/territories. Most states/territories accept IMG applicants as long as they meet registration requirements. Victoria and South Australia, however, do not accept IMGs with limited/provisional registration (they only accept applicants with general registration). Even if you are not eligible to apply through the campaign, you can still apply for jobs directly by searching for job advertisements outside of the annual recruitment campaign.
